Slovak films are traditionally presented at the International festival of documentary films in Jihlava, Czech republic. This year they are included both in the competition selection and at the documentary market East Silver.

European Film Academy announced the nominations in the category EUROPEAN FILM ACADEMY DOCUMENTARY 2009 – PRIX ARTE.
The Slovak documentary film Cooking History directed by Peter Kerekes is selected and nominated for the award.
  Broken Promise and Foxes at Pusan IFF 2009

Both films will be presented In Pusan within the project of the European Film Promotion with the support of the Slovak Film Institute and the Czech Film Centre. European FIlm Promotion supports the presence of European films in Pusan for 12th time bringing a delegation of 26 directors and actors from 15 different countries.

The Slovak Film and Television Academy (SFTA) decided to nominate the film Broken Promise (dir. Jiri Chlumsky) as the Slovak entry for the Best Foreign Language Film Academy Award 2010 .

  Slovak actor Samuel Spišák awarded in Portugal

Young Slovak actor Samuel Spišák, starring as the character of Martin Friedmann in the new Slovak film Broken Promise, was awarded with the Silver dolphin award for the best actor at the Festroia International Film Festival in Portugal.
