The 12th edition of International Film Festival Cinematik brings together not only a selection of European films, but also sixteen Slovak films - many of them in their premieres. The festival takes place on Sept 12 – 17, 2017 in Piešťany.

The European Film Academy announced this year’s selection of 51 films recommended for a nomination for the European Film Awards. The list includes three Slovak films: The Teacher (d. Jan Hřebejk) and two minority co-productions Ice Mother (d. Bohdan Sláma) and Spoor (d. Agnieszka Holland).

  Fest Anča Celebrates 10th Edition!

This year it is for the 10th time that in Žilina International Animation Festival Fest Anča takes place. The event starts on Thursday, June 29 and lasts till Sunday, July 2, 2017. Its competitions and non-competition sections will introduce a colourful selection of the best animation films from all around the world, this year with special focus on Hungarian animation.

The 25th ART FILM FEST Košice (June 16-24, 2017) will see three Slovak films compete. The International Competition of Fiction Feature Films selection includes two Slovak majority co-productions, and one among the contestants in International Competition of Shorts. Yet, not only the list of Slovak films screened at the nowadays Slovakia oldest international film festival doesn't end here, it doesn't end with traditional Slovak Season either.
  Slovak nominations for European Academy Awards announced

Slovak Film and Television Academy (SFTA) has decided on two Slovak films to apply for the European Film Awards. The Academy nominates a fiction feature film Little Harbour by Iveta Grófová (winner of Crystal Bear at Berlinale 2017) and a documentary A Hole in the Head by Robert Kirchhoff.
