  Slovakia in spotlight of When East Meets West

Slovakia is one of the countries in spotlight of industry platform When East Meets West (January, 20 - 22, 2019). A numerous delegation of Slovak film professionals will be representing the country at the event that is running paralely to 30th Trieste Film Festival (January 18 – 25, 2019). At the same time, the festival will introduce five Slovak films in various sections.

The 20th edition of Bratislava International Film Festival (November 29 – December 2, 2018) has prepared a selection of contemporary Czech and Slovak Cinema. Most of the selected films were made in Czech-Slovak co-production as a result of the natural continuation of the filmmaking cooperation between the two neighboring countries after the dissolution of Czechoslovakia, the state whose 100th foundation anniversary we celebrate this year.

Every year, Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival organisers show a selection of extraordinary creative documentaries, mainly from Central and East Europe. The 22nd edition of the festival, running from October 25 to 30 this year, will introduce six Slovak and co-production documentaries, most of them in their world or international premiere.

Digitally restored films from the National Film Archive collection of Slovak Film Institute (SFI) are heading to prestigious film festivals. Retrospective of Viktor Kubal will present in Spanish premiere the works of Slovak director, animator and artist at 51st Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival (October 4 – 14, 2018) while The Case of Barnabáš Kos by Peter Solan will be screened in world premiere at Lumière Festival (October 13 – 21, 2018) in Lyon.
  Slovak Films are Heading to Moscow

Slovak Film Days in Moscow (September 27 – October 3, 2018), the showcase of contemporary Slovak cinema will present seven feature films in seven days. Russian audience of cinema Fitil club will welcome recognized films by Jan Hřebejk, Iveta Grófová, Marko Škop, Rasťo Boroš, Andrea Sedláčková, and Peter Bebjak.
