  Slovak Film Week 2017
A showcase of domestic cinema Slovak Film Week (april 3 – 9, 2017) keeps on and is held for the third time. Visitors of the Lumiere Cinema will have an opportunity to catch up with the Slovak films released in cinemas in 2016. The part of the event is also The Sun in a Net 2017 Gala Ceremony.
  Slovak Shorts in Dresden 2017
The 29th edition of International Short Film Festival FilmFest Dresden (April 4 – 9, 2017) features several Slovak films within the official programme.
  The Sun in a Net 2017 - Nominations
Members of the Slovak Film and Television Academy (SFTA) voted in the first round and selected nominees for the Slovak National Film Award The Sun in a Net 2017 in particular categories. The Award is given by Slovak Film and Television Academy (SFTA) since 2004, until last year held as biennial. The Academy was considering 20 submitted films, from which only 10 get nominee. Most nominations went to The Teacher (d. Jan Hřebejk, 13 nominations) and A Prominent Patient (d. Julius Ševčík, 12 nominations); followed by I, Olga Hepnarová (d. Tomáš Weinreb, Petr Kazda, 5 nominations), Stanko (d. Rastislav Boroš, 4 nominations) and The Red Captain (d. Michal Kollár, 3 nominations).
  The second edition of Industry Days is ready to kick off!
After a succesful first launch last year, the upcoming 24th MFFK Febiofest Bratislava will once again host a second edition of Industry Days (March 7 - 8): a bright new event dedicated to the promotion of local film production as well as to meetings of Slovak and international film professionals.
  International Film Club Festival Febiofest kicks off
The 24th International Film Clubs Festival Febiofest (March 2 – 8, 2017) kicks off with strong presence of Slovak films.
  Two Bears for Slovak Films at Berlinale 2017
The 2017 edition of Berlinale has been a success for Slovak films. Spoor by Agnieszka Holland and Kasia Adamik have received the Silver Bear – Alfred Bauer Prize and Little Harbour by Iveta Grófová was awarded the Crystal Bear.
  Two Slovak films at Rotterdam IFF 2017
Two Slovak films will be premiered at the 46th edition of prestigious Rotterdam IFF. Bright Future section features Filthy by talented Tereza Nvotová. The festival has also prepared a wide retrospective of the work of Jan Němec including also his last film The Wolf from Royal Vineyard Street.
  Slovak films at Trieste FF 2017
Year 2017 starts fabulous for Slovak films. One the first festivals of 2017 - Trieste FF - is opened by The Teacher by Jan Hřebejk and presents several Slovak films witihin the programme in their Italian premieres. Moreover, Slovak projects are also part of the accompanying industry events.
  Slovak Films Nominated for Czech Lion 2016
Czech National Award Czech Lion, bestowed annually by CzechFilm and Television Academy (CFTA), announced the Nominations from the films distributed in the local cinemas last year.

Czech Lion is awarded in 15 statutory categories (see below). Among the three films with the highest number of nominations are two Slovak co-productions, A Prominent Patient (by Julius Ševčík) and The Teacher (by Jan Hřebejk).
  Little Harbour by Iveta Grófová at Berlinale 2017!
Berlin IFF (Feb 9 – 19, 2017) will introduce Iveta Grófová´s second feature within the Generation Kplus section.
