Slovak films continue in their success in spring. They were not only acknowlegded at the European continent, but also at African events.

The 25th edition of the Festival of Czech Films Finále Plzeň starts this Sunday and will be running till April 28, 2012. In its official programme it offers some of the new and archive Slovak films, it will present a new section for film professionals Industry Days and will traditionally bring the presentation of upcoming Czech fiction and animation projects.
  The Sun in a Net 2012 - Winners

The Slovak National Film Awards The Sun in a Net 2012, granted by the Slovak Film and Television Academy (SFTA) for the period of 2010 - 2012, have their owners. During the Gala Ceremony held in the Slovak National Theatre on April 17, 2012, 6 Slovak Films were awarded in 16 categories.
  The Border screened at Disappearing Act IV in New York

The Czech Center New York, and the Romanian Cultural Institute in New York, in collaboration with a large array of European cultural institutes and consulates, present the Disappearing Act IV, a showcase of European films, April 11 to April 22, 2012. The series features 25 contemporary European films: Slovakia will be represented by the national Oscar nomination The Border (2009) by Jaroslav Vojtek.

Slovak Film Evenings 2012, subtitled Pictures and Dreams - The Most Awarded Slovak Films is the title of the showcase of some of the most significant Slovak films in Helsinki and Tampere, Finland, taking place at the end of March. Finnish audience will have a unique chance to see 6 full-length and 4 short animation Slovak films.

The Tampere Film Festival in Filand is one of the most significant festivals dedicated to short films: it was its 42nd edition taking place in Tampere March 7 - 11. The Slovak film The Last Bus for the director-duo Ivana Laučíková and Martin Snopek received the Grand Prix of the festival.
  Slovak shorts in Sofia

Slovak films will be presented in Sofia this year, as well. Sofia IFF (9. - 18. - 29. 3. 2012) selected the short films The Last Bus by Ivana Laučíková, Martin Snopek and Cagey Tigers by Aramisova for the Festival Shorts section.

During February, members of the Slovak Film and Television Academy voted in a first round and selected nominees for the Slovak National Film Awards 2012 in particular categories.
  Prague hosting the new East Doc Platform

The industry platform, previously hosted by the International Documentary Film Festival Ji.hlava, will present itself in within a new setting: the One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival in Prague: the 1st edition of the East Doc Platform will take place March 6 - 11, 2012, at the Archa Palace and Theatre in Prague

The results of the Czech national film award Czech Lion are announced. The Slovak films The House, Alois Nebel and Lidice were among the winners.
