The 57th edition of Viennale International Film Festival (October 24 – November 6, 2019) will introduce two Slovak classics Captain Dabač by Paľo Bielik and The Bells Toll for the Barefooted by Stanislav Barabáš within Retrospective program. The two-month retrospective will start during the Viennale and will continue until December 4, 2019.
  Slovak documents at DOK Leipzig 2019

The collection of Slovak documentary films from the 1960s celebrates success internationally. The selection of documentaries from the golden era of Slovak cinematography has already been presented at several foreign events, and in October it will be presented at the 62nd International Documentary and Animated Film Festival DOK Leipzig (October 28 - November 3, 2019).

Numerous world and international premieres of the Slovak documentaries will take place within the 23rd Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival (October 24 – 29, 2019). The festival will also present a selection of eight digitally restored Slovak documentary shorts made in 1960s and 1970s.

  Digitally restored Wild Lilies at Lumière Festival 2019

Digitally restored film Wild Lilies (1972) by Elo Havetta will world premiere at the of one of the largest and most respected international festivals of the classic film Lumière Festival in Lyon (October 12 - 20, 2019). This is the third digitally restored film from the collections of the National Film Archive of the SFI that festival has selected for its program in the past three years.
  7th Czech and Slovak Film Festival of Australia

This year the 7th edition of the Czech and Slovak Film Festival of Australia will celebrate the 30th anniversary of 1989’s famously peaceful Velvet Revolution, the beginning of a new era of democracy in Czechoslovakia. On this special occasion, festival will bring a program that reflects the topic and successful contemporary cinema to the audience of Melbourne (September 19 – 22, 2019) and Canberra (October 4 – 6, 2019).

  Slovenian and French cinemathéques present Slovak Classics

The Slovenian Cinematheque in Ljubljana will present selection of Slovak films made mostly during the ‘Golden Era’ of 1960s as a part of the Czech-Slovak Film Days showcase (September 10 – 12, 2019). Next week, the Cinemathèque du Documentaire in Paris will screen Milan Černák's medium length film World Ski Championships (1970) at Centre Pompidou.
