  Slovak Film Week 2018

The fourth edition of Slovak Film Week showcase (April 9 – 15, 2018) will present Slovak cinema of 2017, the succesful year of record-breaking attendance. Peter Mihálik Award for recognition of work in the field of film studies will be given during the opening ceremony. The showcase will be held in nine other Slovak cities beside Bratislava: Banská Bystrica, Kežmarok, Košice, Martin, Nitra, Spišská Nová Ves, Trenčín, Trnava a Žilina.
  The third edition of Industry Days is ready to kick off!

After a two succesful years, the upcoming 25th IFCF Febiofest Bratislava will once again host a third edition of Industry Days (March 20 – 21, 2018). The platform is intended predominantly for producers, film professionals and university students, but also for the wider public with an interest in specific topics related to film production.

25th edition of International Film Clubs Festival Febiofest (March 15 – 29, 2018) will kick off in a few days. Touring festival starts in Bratislava and then continues to Banská Bystrica, Kežmarok, Košice, Levice, Martin, Poprad, Prešov, Prievidza, Trenčín and Trnava.
  Slovak Films at Mittel Punkt Europa

The showcase of Central European Cinema will take place in the first half of March at the Museum of Film in Munich (March 1 – 11, 2018) and at the Film Gallery in Regensburg (March 4 – 7, 2018). Mittel Punkt Europa will for the second time ask a question „Where is the centre of Europe?“ in an effort to learn more and understand better the German's neighboring countries to the East.

Slovak Film and Television Academy (SFTA) will once again honour the most remarkable films and creative accomplishment of Slovak cinema. Slovak National Film Awards The Sun in a Net 2018 will be announced Friday, April 6, 2018 during the Gala ceremony, broadcasted live on TV channel Jednotka (RTVS).
  Winter Film Festival 4 elements will be about beginnings

Winter Film Festival 4 elements will take a place in Banská Štiavnica at the end of winter (February 23 – 25, 2018). The festival will traditionally enrich the long weekend with live-action films, documentaries, animations, master classes, concerts and visual art. The topic of this edition - The Beginning – will bring the Slovak shorts into the programme, as most filmmakers start their careers with making the short films.
  Slovakian New Wave in Finland

The pioneers of Slovak New Wave will be presented in the february programme of the Cinematheque of National Audiovisual Institute in Helsinki. The Slovakian New Wave showcase will take place between Feb 8 – 21, 2018 and will introduce one documentary and four fiction films made by five Slovak directors in the Sixties and early Seventies.
  The Flower Shop and Insect to premiere at Rotterdam IFF 2018

Two films will represent Slovak cinema at the 47th edition of IFF Rotterdam (Jan 24 – Feb 4, 2018). Feature-lenght fiction The Flower Shop will be internationally premiered in the competition Bright Future and the new film by Jan Švankmajer Insect will be screened in the world premiere within the section Signature.
  The CEE Animation Industry Is Uniting into a Single Market

This year the European Commission developed an Animation Plan, which aims to invigorate the animation industry in the entire EU. The Central and Eastern European region contains great potential that has yet to be tapped. A new initiative titled the CEE Animation Workshop is striving to capture this potential by bringing together independent animated film producers from a total of eighteen countries and showing producers from the CEE region the latest international animation industry trends. The event will be held from 2 to 6 December, 2017 in Ljubljana.
  Slovak films at IDFA 2017

International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam will present two Slovak films at its annual 30th edition (November 15 – 26, 2017). Documentary The White World According to Daliborek by Vít Klusák will have its international premiere and a project of Slovak director and producer Peter Kerekes Occupation 1968 (d. Evdokia Moskvina, Linda Dombrovszky, Maria Elise Scheidt, Magda Szymkow, Stephan Komandarev) will be presented in the section IDFA Forum. In addition, The Lust for Power (d. Tereza Nvotová) is part of Docs for Sale
