The Last Bus receiving the Grand Prix in Tampere, qualifying for Oscar

The Tampere Film Festival in Filand is one of the most significant festivals dedicated to short films: it was its 42nd edition taking place in Tampere March 7 - 11. The Slovak film The Last Bus (2011) for the director-duo Ivana Laučíková and Martin Snopek received the Grand Prix of the festival.

According to the Jury, the film is a timeless combination of all genres, it plays with archetypical characters and becomes a metaphorical nightmare of a fairy tale, it ends with the boarding of a ship that leaves for unknown shores of time and space - a ship that could be Noah’s’ Ark. The Grand Prix winner The Last Bus will qualify for consideration for Oscar, the Annual Academy Award in the Short Films Category.

The Last Bus was recently awarded at the prestigious festival in Clermont-Ferrand, receiving the Prix de la Jeunesse.
