The Sun in a Net 2018 – Nominations
Slovak Film and Television Academy (SFTA) will once again honour the most remarkable films and creative accomplishment of Slovak cinema. Slovak National Film Awards The Sun in a Net 2018 will be announced Friday, April 6, 2018 during the Gala ceremony, broadcasted live on TV channel Jednotka (RTVS).
Out of 27 submitted films, The Academy has nominated 14 films that will contend for prizes in 17 different categories.
Thriller The Line (d. Peter Bebjak), set on the Slovak-Ukrainian border, vies for 13 awards, while Little Harbour by Iveta Grófová does by no means lag behind with 10 nominations. Filthy by Tereza Nvotová received 6 nominations.
Turning to the other main categories, nominees for Best Documentary Film include A Hole in the Head (d. Robert Krichhoff), The Lust for Power (d. Tereza Nvotová) and Heavy Heart (d. Marek Šulík). Oddsockeaters (d. Galina Miklínová), My Father the Hero!, one episode of The Websters series (d. Katarína Kerekesová) and Yellow by Ivana Šebestová are in the running for Best Animation award.
For the first time this year, The Slovak National Film Awards ceremony will be held prior to the Slovak Film Week (April 9 – 15, 2018) at Kino Lumière, Bratislava, and will subsequently be shown in towns all around Slovakia. The showcase will feature consists of films premiered in 2017, as well as The Sun in a Net nominees and winners.
