More than 20 Slovak films at 34th Finále Plzeň

The 34th edition of Finále Plzeň film festival (September 24 – 29, 2021) will feature 10 Slovak film in competitions and another 12 in non-competitive sections.

Five films compete for the Golden Kingfisher award at Documentary Films Competition: Alchemical Furnace (d. Adam Oľha, Jan Daňhel), Once Upon a Time in Poland (d. Vít Klusák, Filip Remunda), On Your Marks! (d. Mária Pinčíková), The Commune (d. Jakub Julény) and Caught in the Net (d. Vít Klusák, Barbora Chalupová).

Five Slovak films are also included at Feature Live Action or Animated Films Competition: The Bird Atlas (d. Olmo Omerzu), Emma in Love (d. Jan Prušinovský), Shadow Country (d. Bohdan Sláma), Servants (d. Ivan Ostrochovský) and Saving One Who Was Dead (d. Václav Kadrnka).

Non-competitive First Catch section dedicated to pre-premieres and premieres will showcase 107 Mothers (d. Peter Kerekes), Housing Against Everyone (d. Tomáš Hlaváček), Kryštof (d. Zdeněk Jiráský), My Sunny Maad (d. Michaela Pavlátová), Even Mice Belong in Heaven (d. Denisa Grimmová, Jan Bubeníček) and The Auschwitz Report (r. Peter Bebjak).

Documentary dimensions and In the Nets of 2020-21 (Selection of feature films) include three Slovak films each: White on White (d. Viera Čákanyová), Every Single Minute (d. Erika Hníková), Video Kings (d. Lukáš Bulava) and Martin and the Magical Forest (d. Petr Oukropec), The Man with Hare Ears (d. Martin Šulík), Wrap Up and Disappear (d. Adam Hobzik) respectively.
