The film tells the story of the inhabitants of a forgotten village close to the Austrian border after the events of the 1930s to 1950s come into their lives. Previously, all that was needed was to till the fields, survive the winter and raise children, but now the villagers must choose who is to be Austrian, German or Czech and pay the price such a decision will bring. And so, neighbours who used to live peacefully side by side turn into sworn enemies who “settle their accounts” even at the cost of committing a crime, shedding their moral inhibitions and humanity.

Film rozpráva príbeh obyvateľov zabudnutej dedinky neďaleko rakúskych hraníc, ktorým vstúpia do života udalosti tridsiatych až päťdesiatych rokov 20. storočia. Predtým bolo podstatné obrábať pole, prežiť zimu a vychovať deti, teraz si treba vybrať, kto je Rakúšan, kto Nemec a kto Čech, a zaplatiť cenu, ktorú takéto rozhodnutie prinesie. A tak sa z dosiaľ pokojne nažívajúcich susedov stávajú zarytí nepriatelia, ktorí si navzájom vyrovnávajú účty aj za cenu zločinu, straty etických zábran a ľudskosti. |
