Strong representation of Slovak films at the Finále Plzeň Festival 2022

The 35th edition of the Finále Plzeň Festival (September 23 – 28, 2022) will present 24 Slovak films, of which 9 within the competition sections.

The successful Slovak films 107 Mothers (d. Peter Kerekes) and Victim (d. Michal Blaško) will vie for the Golden Kingfisher in the Feature Live Action or Animated Films Competition. Likewise other Slovak minority coproductions Il Boemo (d. Petr Václav), The Word (d. Beata Parkanová), Buko (d. Alice Nellis) and the animated feature film Even Mice Belong in Heaven (d. Denisa Grimmová, Jan Bubeníček).

The Documentary Films Competition will present films Housing Against Everyone (d. Tomáš Hlaváček) and How I Become a Partisan (d. Vera Lacková).

The pilot of the Slovak TV series Ultimatum (d. Michal Kollár) will compete in the Feature and Mini-serial TV and Internet Production Competition.

In the non-competitive First Catch section, dedicated to premieres and pre-premieres, will present the new releases Ordinary Failures (d. Cristina Grosan) and Michael Kocáb (d. Olga Sommerová) and The Nightsiren (d. Tereza Nvotová).

The In the Nets2021-22 section will feature drama Arved (d. Vojtěch Mašek), comedy Indian (d. Tomáš Svoboda, Vladimír Kriško) and Perfect Strangers (d. Zuzana Marianková), thriller Shadowplay (d. Peter Bebjak), fairy tale The Enchanted Cave (d. Mariana Čengel Solčanská), wild-life film Wild Prague (d. Jan Hošek), an animated film Journey to Yourland (d. Peter Budinský) and short TV special Mimi & Lisa – Garden (d. Ivana Šebestová, Katarína Kerekesová).

Czech Traces section we also find Slovak minority co-production Absence (d. Ali Mosaffa). The Special Feature section will screen animated shorts Love, Dad (d. Diana Cam Van Nguyen) and Suzie in the Garden (d. Lucie Sunková). Slovak minority coproduction Wild Roots (d. Hajni Kis), will be presented in the ZOOM section, which this year focuses on Hungary.
