Slovak films at Febiofest Bratislava 2022

The 29th edition of the Intl. Film Festival Febiofest Bratislava (16 – 23 March 2022) presents several new Slovak (co)production films, as well as a newly digitally restored film from the collections of the Slovak Film Institute.

The competition In the Heart of Europe lines-up short films Leporello of My Paltriness by Kristián Grupač and Greetings from Nigeria by Peter Hoferica. Kryštof by Zdeněk Jiráský, Saving One Who Was Dead by Václav Kadrnka, Land of Warm Waters by Igor & Ivan Buharov made it into the selection of a side-bar section In the Heart of Europe – Out of Competition that also presents, in a national premiere, the documentary We Have to Survive: Fukushima! A found-footage documentary Reconstruction of Occupation by Jan Šikl screens in the side-bar Pocta Ukrajine (Tribute: Ukraine – ed.), and Film Cabinet for Children offers another national premiere, a fresh-from-Berlinale short animation Suzie in the Garden by Lucia Sunková and documentary On the Edge by Viliam Bendík.

From the collections of the National Film Archive of the Slovak Film Institute, the newly digitally restored masterpiece Seven Days Every Week by Eduard Grečner (1964) by Eduard Grečner will be shown within The Mirror of the Past section. The contemporary psychological drama about the fears and insecurities emanating from the menace of the nuclear war was internationally premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam earlier this year.
