International Film Club Festival Febiofest starts!

The 23rd International Film Clubs Festival Febiofest (March 17 – 23) opens its gates with wide selection of Slovak films in its rich programme. 

A short film competition section In the Middle of Europe features five Slovak shorts: AFK: Away from Keyboard (d. Patrik Kováč, SK), Chronos (d. Martin Kazimír, SK), Mila Fog (d. Marta Prokopová, SK), Leaving this Country (d. Dominik Jursa, SK) and Gardeners (d. Mira Fornay, SK-NL).

A recent film and TV production is introduced in the Slovak Film Landscape. The section also honoured two Slovak filmmakers: honouree Dušan Trančík and tragically deceased Vladimir Mičúch alias Aramisova.
The section shows: Climbing Higher (d. David Čálek, CZ-SK), 5 October (d. Martin Kollár, SK-CZ), The Red Spider (d. Marcin Koszałka, PL-CZ-SK), I, Olga Hepnarova (d. Tomáš Weinreb, Petr Kazda, CZ-PL-SK-FR), The Czech Way (d. Martin Kohout, CZ-SK), Okhwan´s Mission Impossible (d. Marek Mackovič, SK-CZ), Steam on the River (d. Robert Kirchoff, SK-CZ), When Land Is Looking for Its Heaven (d. Erik Praus, SK) and two episodes of the TV series Female First: Ľudmila Pajdušáková (d. Lenka Moravčíková-Chovanec, SR) and Zora Jesenská (d. Róbert Šveda, SR).

Tribute: Dušan Trančík screens three films from the end of the 1960-ties: his documentary debut Photographing the House Dwellers (d. Dušan Trančík, CS) and short films The Gallows (d. Dušan Trančík, CS) and Commemoration (d. Dušan Trančík, Vlado Kubenko, Peter Mihálik, CS).

Tribute: Aramisova features Wolves and Foxes (d. Aramisova, SK), I Like Nora (d. Aramisova, CZ), Cagey Tigers (d. Aramisova, CZ-SK) and What We Did before We Drank Cocoa Together(d. Aramisova, 2015, CZ-SK).

The Mirror of the Past brings several archive films: The Fountain for Suzanne (d. Dušan Rapoš, SK), Paper Heads (d. Dušan Hanák, SK-CH-FR-CZ) and a collection of 8 Slovak short agitational and documentary films from 1949-1968 Cinema-Truth, Cinema-Lie.

Slovak films will be screened also within the sections Personalities of Club Films: Wrong Side Up (d. Petr Zerlenka, CZ-DE-SK) and in the Club Jukebox: Eva Nová (d. Marko škop, SK-CZ) and Koza (d. Ivan Ostrochovksý, SK-CZ).

The Film Cabinet to Children will show popular TV series: Mimi & Líza (d. Katarína Kerekesová).
