A book written by a former SS officer, detailing his time and deeds in Slovakia, falls into the hands of the interpreter, Ali Ungár. He realises that the SS officer is responsible for the death of his parents. He travels to Vienna but, in place of the killer, he finds only his son, Georg, a former teacher who, throughout his life, has distanced himself from his father’s past. However, the interpreter’s visit awakens his interest and he decides to find out who his father really was.

Tlmočníkovi Alimu Ungárovi sa dostane do rúk kniha bývalého dôstojníka SS, v ktorej opisuje svoje pôsobenie na Slovensku. Ali si uvedomí, že esesák je zodpovedný za smrť jeho rodičov. Vycestuje do Viedne, ale namiesto vraha nájde len jeho syna. Georg, bývalý učiteľ, sa od minulosti svojho otca celý život dištancoval. Tlmočníkova návšteva však vzbudí jeho záujem a on sa rozhodne zistiť, kým vlastne bol jeho otec.
