Twenty Slovak films at Finále Plzeň

Slovak cinema leaves a strong mark at 36th edition of Finále Plzeň Film Festival (22 – 27 September 2023). The festival will screen 20 Slovak films, half of which are up for the awards.

Feature Live Action or Animated Films Competition includes: Brutal Heat (dir. Albert Hospodářský), A Sensitive Person (dir. Tomáš Klein), Snake Gas (dir. David Jařab), Power (dir. Mátyás Prikler), Tony, Shelly and the Magic Light (dir. Filip Pošivač), and We Have Never Been Modern (dir. Matěj Chlupáček).

Two Slovak documentaries and shorts are up for Golden Kingfisher as well: Visitors (dir. Veronika Lišková) and All Men Become Brothers (dir. Robert Kirchhoff) in the former category, and Asterión (dir. Francesco Montagner) and Electra (dir. Daria Kashcheeva) in the latter one.

Another seven Slovak films were selected for non-competitive In the Nets of 2022-23 section: #annaismissing (dir. Pavel Soukup), Restore Point (dir. Robert Hloz), Grand Prix (dir. Jan Prušinovský), Kapr Code (dir. Lucie Králová), Never Say Never (dir. Braňo Mišík), The Chambermaid (dir. Mariana Čengel Solčanská), and The Websters Movie (dir. Katarína Kerekesová). Films Goldilocks and the Glorious Losers (dir. Rasťo Boroš), The Ballad of Piargy (dir. Ivo Trajkov), and Plastic Symphony (dir. Juraj Lehotský) are part of Czech Traces section.
