Matchmaking Mayor receiving awards

The Czech - Slovak co-production documentary by Erika Hníková Matchmaking Mayor received two awards in the last weeks and it also continues in its distribution sucesses.

At the 5th Vukovar Film Festival in Croatia the film about the mayor from Eastern Slovakia trying to raise the birth rate in his village received the award for the Best Documentary Film. At the Slovak Cinematik IFF, held in Piešťany for the sixth time, it received the Film Europe Award for the Best Documentary, as well.

The director of the film Erika Hníková was the guest of the London-based show "The Fabulous Picture Show" , which was broadcasted during 16. - 19. 9. and is available on-line on the website of the television Aljazeera. The show screens the film at a closed screening for selected viewers, after which the Q&A with the director is broadcasted together with clips from the film. More than 90 film directors presented their films since the show began, including Oliver Stone, David Frost či Terry Gilliam.

Matchmaking Mayor was a part of festival programmes in Australia, Mexico, USA, Uruguay during the summer and is ready for its viewers in Belgium, Luxembourg and again USA and Australia in autumn.

After the distribution in Poland, the film will be broadcasted on the Finnish television YLE in October.
