Slovakia - Partner Country of CineLink Industry Days 2016

On Monday, August 15, the established coproduction platform CineLink Industry Days kicks off within the 22nd Sarajevo Film Festival. This year, Slovakia and Czech Republic are proud to be Partner countries of this unique event! A strong delegation of 26 Czech and Slovak film professionals is heading to Sarajevo for four busy days to build ties with their Southeast European counterparts.

Over the 15 years since its launch, the Sarajevo Film Festival's industry section CineLink has become a major hub for Southeast European film professionals, and has played a crucial role in the expansion of cinematic co-production in the region. It has also become a key destination for professionals from across Europe who are in search of talent and co-production possibilities, or simply wish to obtain in-depth knowledge about this dynamic region’s business development.

Since its start, more than a decade ago, the CineLink Partner Country Initiative has helped to build contacts between all the corners of Europe, offering valuable networking opportunities and a space for fresh ideas. This way, it has laid the foundation for long-term collaborations between Southeast Europe and the rest of the continent.

Being one of the partner countries of this year´s event, it is our goal to represent Slovak cinema and Slovak audiovisual space in the best possible way and to introduce ourselves to our professional counterparts from the region of Eastern and Southeastern Europe, as in a broader international context. We want to strengthen already existing ties and build up mutual collaboration with tangible results for near future.

The representative group of Slovak film professionals has been selected by the Slovak Film Institute, in close co-operation with the festival organization. Producers Marko Škop (ARTILERIA), Peter Badač (BFILM), Katarína Krnáčová (SiLVERaRT), Jakub Viktorín (nutprodukcia, Visegrad Film Forum), or Juraj and Danuta Krasnohorskí (Artichoke), co-producers of the short animation film Superbia (d. Luca Tóth), included in the festival programme – Short Film Competition, are part of the delegation. The rest of the delegation is formed by TV broadcaster representatives Monika Mikušová (Radio and Television Slovakia), Stano Dančiak (Markíza), independent distribution company manager Eva Križková (Filmtopia), or film journalist, theorist and expert on Slovak and Balkan cinema Jana Dudková.

The Czech-Slovak-Bulgarian co-production In Your Dreams! by Petr Oukropec is also part of the festival programme and will be screened within the TeenArena section.

The Partner Country Initiative is arranged in collaboration with Slovak Film Institute, with support of the Slovak Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic.
