Visegrad Film Forum will discuss low bugdet film production

2nd year of an international event Visegrad Film Forum (VFF) will take place at the Film and Television Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts on 17th – 20th of October 2012 in Bratislava, Slovakia. This year VFF comes up with master classes and workshops focusing on Low-budget Film Production. The events are open to everyone, from film students and professionals to general public interested in film or willing to learn some more about it. All of the lectures will be run by film professionals coming from different European countries.

The general ambition of the VFF is to support the collaboration between film students and graduates coming from the Central and Eastern European region, create favourable working conditions for them, share the practical information on international film coproduction and the low-budget film production through their general phases.


Jim STARK
Producer of Jim Jarmusch’s features Down by Law (1986), Mystery Train (1989) and Night on Earth (1991), will give presentation What I Have Learned about the Best Way to Make a Movie with regard to European audiovisual conditions and conduct a specialized 3-day production master class for selected students.  

Fred KELEMEN
Cinematographer of Bela Tarr’s The Turin Horse (2011) and Man from London (2007), will speak about his collaboration with the prominent Hungarian director and will share his unique insight of an independent director and producer into the independent filmmaking.

Anca DAMIAN
The author of the original documentary-animation hybrid Crulic – The Path Beyond (2011), which was awarded at the prestigious festivals in Annecy, Cottbus and Locarno, will be arriving from the UNATC film school in Budapest.

Éva VEZÉR
Former president of the European Film Promotion (EFP), an international network of organizations focused to promote European cinematography. She's also experienced in management and marketing, having worked and lead the Magyar Filmunió Ltd., Media Desk Hungary, a Duna Television. She was also the Camera d’Or Jury member in 2011.

Petr MAREK
Director and tutor from the Department of Directing at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, leader of the electropop group MIDI LIDI and film music composer will deal with the relations between film and music in master class entitled Film/Music – Visuality/Musicality.

Hervé SCHNEID
One of the most respected European film editors, will give master class entitled The Rhythm of the Scene. Mr. Schneid has cut more than forty films of different genres (Europa by Lars von Trier, Orlando by Sally Potter) but he has become best known for his long-lasting collaboration with French director Jean-Pierre Jeunet (Delicatessen (1991), Alien: Resurrection (1997), Amélie (2001), A Very Long Engagement (2004)).

Udayan PRASAD
Film director and
tutor for a number of international workshops and programmes on directing and scriptwriting will share his knowledge of construction of characters in the lesson named Point of View: Seeing the World through the Eyes of the Characters. Udayan Prasad has given lectures at The London Film School as well as at our partner institution The National Film Television and Theatre School in Lodz.

EKRAN
International training programme for directors, screenwriters and producers, focusing on project development and creative aspects of pre-production will be presented by its co-ordinator Agnieszka Marczewska. The tutors of the programme are Volker Schloendorff, Alexander Sokurov, Wojciech Marczewski či Agnieszka Holland.

Apart from prominent guest speakers, the audience will have a chance to meet film students from partner schools of FTF VŠMU Bratislava such as AGRFT Ljublana, FAMU Prague, PWSFTViT Lodz, SZFE Budapest and UNATC Bucharest. Visegrad Film Forum is organised in collaboration with the Student Film Festival Áčko. The Forum runs in English language only.
