Normalization and New Life of Family Album awarded at Cinematik
The 8th IFF Cinematik Piešťany awarded two Slovak titles. The Cinematik.doc Award went to Robert Kirchhoff`s full-length documentary Normalization (2013), the result of the 8-year director`s investigation about famous rape and murder case from 70s of the last century, which has become a political case in totalitarian regime of Czechoslovakia. The jury consisted of Reinhard Bradatsch, Pamela Pianezza, Tristan Priimägi, Peter Siska and Daniel Vadocký.
The Mayor of Piešťany Award was given to the Slovak documentary New Life Of Family Album (2012) and its director Adam Oľha. The film is telling the director`s story about how a family survives after the father`s sudden departure.
The main prize of the festival Meeting Point Europe Award went to the Danish director Thomas Vinterberg for his portrait of public shaming The Hunt (2012). The film was selected by 17 European critics, as well as the Audience Award of the Eye of Films section, which went to Water (2012).
