Slovak films at 23rd Art Film Fest

The 23rd edition of the Art Film Fest IFF Trenčianske Teplice, Trenčín will be held on June 19 – 26 2015. This year´s volume attracts audience to films awarded at respected festivals, though traditionally do not forget about Slovak films.

The classic sections All Around the World, European Corner, Slovak Season, Love& Anarchy,Eastern Promises will be accompanied by focusing sections Focus: Ukraine, Focus: Amrican Indies, Short Films Special: Window on Qatar.

This year´s International Competition of Feature Films will include Czech-Slovak-German coproduction animation film The Little form the Fish Shop directed by Jan Balej. The selection of the animated film in to the line-up is the exception not only in this year´s competition, but also in the history of the festival, as any animated film have not been competing at the Art Film Fest before.

The Slovak film will have its representative also in the International Competition of Short Film. Into the 36 competing short films fight its way Green Line by Martina Buchelová, who will participate at IFF Karlove Vary 2015 in the section Future Frames: Ten new filmmakers to follow.

The section dedicated to domestic last year´s film production Slovak Season will presents seven full-length films: Lokalfilmis (d. Jakub Kroner) the first feature animation after the Vikotr Kubal´s The Bloody Lady (1980), a traditional fairytale Seven Ravens (d. Alica Nllis), a family film based on the book written by Peter Pišťanek Hostage (d. Juraj Nvota), international awarded film Children (d. Jaro Vojtek) and also Vojtek´s documentary So far, so near, which both have been nominated for European Film Award, adventurous documentary Suri (d. Pavol Barabáš) and coproduction film Mirage (r. Szabolcs Hajdu) starring by American actor Isaachom de Bankolé.
A part of the festival will be also the short trail projection of the upcoming music documentary RYTMUS The Street Dream (d. Miro Drobný).

The new laureates of the Actor´s Mission are Czech actress Aňa Geislerová, who can be seen on screen in Czech-Slovak co-production film Želary (d. O. Trojan), and one of the most outstanding Slovak actors Juraj Kukura.
The Golden Camera is going to DOP Jan Ďuriš, the  cinematographer of the most films directed by Juraj Jakubisko.

The publication Film as a free verse written by influential Slovak director Eduard Grečner will be presented at the festival in the collaboration with the Slovak Film Institute. The festival will also hosted three public discussions on actual problems of the contemporary Slovak cinematography. The topics for the discussion are: Does Slovak film lack genre?, Does Slovak film need audience?, Strategy background of Slovak audiovisual culture and Industry development for 2016 – 2020.

Within the festival programme for film professionals will be held traditional scriptwriting workshop MIDPOINT.
