Slovak Films at 21st Art Film Fest IFF Trenčianske Teplice / Trenčín

The 21st edition of the Art Film Fest IFF Trenčianske Teplice / Trenčín (21. - 26. 6. 2013) will offer domestic production in several of its sections. Slovak films, however, will also be represented at the accompanying events of the festival - FORUM 2013 and the international scriptwriting workshop MIDPOINT.

The International Competition of Feature Films will include the Rotterdam winner - My Dog Killer (2013) by Mira Fornay. The International Competition of Short Films will feature Slovak films, as well - Pandas (2013) by Matúš Vizár - awarded in Cannes and Annecy - and Weed (2013) by Enrik Bistik will compete.

The European Corner section, presenting the most successful European titles of the last year, will include the co-production title Like Never Before (2013) by Zdeněk Tyc.

Art Film Fest IFF will honour the Slovak actor Július Satinský in a section called Topic: Satinský According to Lasica, a besides some of the several Satinský's classic films, the documentary PThe Remarkable World of Július Satinský (2004) by Peter Hledík, will be screened.

The section dedicated to domestic production, however is Slovak Season, presenting new full-length Slovak films - Miner's Bread (2013) by Roman Fábian, Fine, Thanks (2013) by Mátyás Prikler, Exhibits or Stories from the Castle (2013) by Palo Korec, Normalization (2013) by Robert Kirchhoff, Love Me or Leave Me (2013) by Mariana Čengel Solčanská, Square in a Circle (2013) by Ľubomír Štecko and short films - the animated TV series for children Mimi and Lisa (2013) by Katarína Kerekesová and Tiger Fight (2013) by Martin Repka. The section will also present three digitally restored prints of archive films, as a celebration of the Slovak Film Instiute's 50th anniversary: Slovenská sezóna uvedie aj filmy z príležitosti 50. výročia založenia Slovenského filmového ústavu: vo svetovej premiére sa predstavia tri digitálne reštaurované filmy: The Song of the Grey Pigeon (1961) by Stanislav Barabáš, 322 (1969) by Dušan Hanák and I'm Sitting in a Tree and I Feel Fine (1989) by Juraj Jakubisko. The student films will be shown in the Grasshopper sub-section.

The Czech company of the Slovak producer Rudolf Biermann celebrates a memorable anniversary, as well: the best of the company's production will be introduced in the IN Film - 20 years section. The Slovak titles in it are Everything I Love (1992), The Garden (1995) and Landscape (2000) by Martin Šulík, Passionate Kiss (1994) by Miro Šindelka, Blue Heaven (1997) by Eva Borušovičová and I Served the King of England (2006) by Jiří Menzl.

The new publication of the Slovak Film Institute, celebrating its 50th anniversary, will also be presented: Best of Slovak Film 1921 – 1991 brings 35 films by 20 directors from Jánošík (1921) by Jaroslav Siakeľ to Tenderness (1991) by Martin Šulík. The author of the particular annotations is the renowned British film critic Peter Hames.

The festival will also honour the director of Slovak origin Juraj Herz (Golden Camera) and the actress of Slovak origin Barbora Bobulova (Actor's Mission).
