My Dog Killer among the EFA 2013 selection
The European Film Academy and EFA Productions have announced the titles of the 46 films on this year’s selection list, the list of films recommended for a nomination for the 26th European Film Awards 2013. Among them is the second film by Mira Fornay, the Hivos Tiger Award winner from Rotterdam, My Dog Killer (SK-CZ, 2013).In the 20 countries with the most EFA Members, these members have voted one national film directly into the selection list. To complete the list, a Selection Committee consisting of EFA Board Members and invited experts Pierre-Henri Deleau (festival expert, France), Jonas Holmberg (Gothenburg IFF, Sweden), Stefan Kitanov (Sofia IFF, Bulgaria), Paz Lázaro (Berlin IFF, Spain), Derek Malcolm (film critic, UK), and Elma Tataragic (Sarajevo FF, Bosnia & Herzegovina) has included further films.
In the coming weeks, the 2,900 members of the European Film Academy will vote for the nominations in the categories European Film, Director, Actor, Actress and Screenwriter. The nominations will then be announced on November 9, 2013 at the Seville European Film Festival in Spain. A 7-member jury will decide on the awards recipients in the categories European Cinematographer, Editor, Production Designer, Costume Designer, Composer and Sound Designer.
The 26th European Film Awards with the presentation of the winners will take place in Berlin on December 7, 2013.
My Dog Killer was selected by the Slovak Film and Television Academy (SFTA).
Last year, the co-production title Alois Nebel (dir. Tomáš Luňák, CZ-DE-SK, 2011) received the European Film Academy Animated Feature Film Award. In the previous years, Slovakia had the successful documentary by Peter Kerekes Cooking History (2009) nominated for the European Film Academy Documentary - Prix Arte.
