Spoor by Agnieszka Holland in Main Competition at Berlinale 2017!

Renowned Polish director Agnieszka Holland will introduce her new film Spoor (orig. POKOT) at Berlinale 2017 (Feb 9 – 19, 2017). The film was also co-produced by newly established Slovak production company nutprodukcia.

The adaptation of a novel by acclaimed Polish writer Olga Tokarczuk will be world premiered within the Main Competition at Berlin IFF 2017 and will vie for the Golden and Silver Bear awards with film titles like The Other Side of Hope by Aki Kaurismäki, The Party by Sally Potter, or The Dinner by Oren Moverman.

Holland´s film was developed as an international project co-produced by Poland, Germany, Czech Republic, Sweden and Slovakia. The Slovak part is represented by recently founded production company nutprodukcia, backed by promising producer Jakub Viktorín and his Czech counterparts Pavla Kubečková and Tomáš Hrubý.

Film tells the story of Janina Duszejko, an elderly woman, who lives alone in the Klodzko Valley where a series of mysterious crimes is committed. Duszejko is convinced that she knows who (or what) is the murderer, but nobody believes her.
As the director Agnieszka Holland said, the film could also be called: "No Country for Old Women". Breaking the rules of storytelling and genre, the film shows not only cruelty to animals, but also to outsiders.
