New Slovak Film in Cinemas

The new Slovak film Facing the Enemy ** (by debuting director Patrik Lančarič) was premiered in March 2007 in Slovak Cinemas.

A historical genre feature set in war times, based on the story written by Leopold Lahola and its stage adaptation by Peter Pavlac. The story takes place against the background of snow-covered hills in winter at the end of the Second World War. The plot follows the memories of the character of Soldier – a partisan who is investigated by a Russian Commissary – and he tells the story of his imprisonment. German officer Helmut Kampen is leading the prisoner with a small German troop. But the Soldier manages to escape and the Commissary tries to find out, how it happened, how is it possible that the Germans did not kill him, and he accusses his officer of collaborating with the enemy. The film presents a non-traditional, modern picture of a historical theme.
