After graduating from high school, Dorotka leaves her native Slovakia to find work in the Czech border town of Aš. Upon arriving, she is immediately confronted with a world of jaded seamstresses all waiting for the arrival of their German princes. The film authentically depicts the mundane surroundings that Dorotka quickly becomesa part of and also reflects the girls’ motives towards making harsh life altering decisions, which can seem immoral when looked at simply from the surface. |

Directed short documentary At Least (2003), The Politics of Quality (2005), Goodbye Party (2005), Guest Workers (2007) and the short animation There Was 11 of Us (2004). Made in Ash is her debut fiction feature. |
