The digitally restored print of the 1967 film Marketa Lazarová by František Vláčil will be presented in a world premiere at the 46th Karlovy Vary IFF. The film was selected as the Best Czech Film ever in 1994 in Karlovy Vary, in 1998 the director František Vláčil received the Crystal Globe for Outstanding Artistic Contribution to World Cinema.

The leading role was portrayed by the very young Slovak actress Magda Vášáryová, for who the character of Marketa meant a significant starting point in her acting career.

The film will be screened July 2, 2011 at 14:00 in  the Grand Hall and July 6, 2011 at 12:00 in the Čas Theatre.
