Slovak Shorts in Dresden 2017

The 29th edition of International Short Film Festival FilmFest Dresden (April 4 – 9, 2017) features several Slovak films within the official programme.

A documentary student film from the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica Nebojsa (r. Jakub Gajdoš) vies in the international competition. Nebojsa is dealing with the theme of religious fanaticism and its faces. Some blow up bombs in the air, while others wear masks of Jesus. The film is a description of life in Nebojsa village in southern Slovakia beside the Hungarian border.

Once again, FilmFest Dresden hosts a section for film professionals etc. – events.trainings.connections. helding forum Visegrád in Short(s) that supports short film makers from Visegrad countries to network, co-operate and present planned projects. Connected to the Visegrad forum, a showcase SLOVAK FOCUS enriches the official programme: Rosso Papavero (d. Martin Smatana, SK, 2014), Mila Fog (d. Marta Prokopová, SK, 2015), Star taxi (d. Juraj Krumpolec, SK, 2015), Fongopolis (d. Joanna Kozuch, SK, 2014), Chilli (d. Martina Mikušová, SK, 2015), Superbia (d. Luca Tóth, HU, CZ, SK, 2016), Brother Deer (d. Zuzana Žiaková, SK, 2015) and Tots: Show (d. Vanda Raýmanová, Michal Struss, SK, 2016).

Part of the platform will be also a talk on production, co-production and funding of short films prepared by Slovak Film Insitute and Czech film Center. Guests of the talk will be: Pavel Soukup, Martin Vandas and Juraj Krasnohorský.

Additionally several Slovak filmamakers will attend the event: Juraj Krasnohorský, Katarína Compľová, Martina Mikušová, Erika Paulinská, Alexandra Gabrižová a Juraj Krumpolec.
