Slovak films about love in Bulgaria


The successful film Foxes by Mira Fornay, premiered at the Venice IFF was included in the International Competition. The film about two sisters and their jealousy, envy, treason, dependency but mostly about their love for each other and forgivness will compete for the main award of the festival – Golden Aphrodita.
Films coming from the period of 60s – 80s will be screened in the Special Focus – Slovak Cinema section. Classical films The Sun in a Net (r. Štefan Uher, 1962), Copper Tower (dir. Martin Hollý, 1970), Pink Dreams (dir. Dušan Hanák, 1976), Build a House Plant a Tree (dir. Juraj Jakubisko, 1979), She Kept Crying for the Moon (dir. Štefan Uher, 1982), Another Love (dir. Dušan Trančík, 1985) and The Fountain for Suzanne (dir. Dušan Rapoš, 1985) present stories about different forms of love.
The IFF Love is Folly was established in 1993 as an iniciative of the Congress Centre Varna. Its main section is the International Competition, accompanied by the non-competition sections. The Slovak Focus was co-organized with the Slovak Film Institute.
