After almost forty years Slovakia will once again have a representative at IFF Cannes in the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs / Directors’ Fortnight. At the 61st IFF Cannes, which certainly is the dream of all film directors, the feature-length documentary film Blind Loves, directed by Juraj Lehotský will be presented. The film will be screened in the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs/Directors´ Fortnight section, a section which for long years has been the discoverer of new talents of the cinema world in the area of feature fiction, documentary and short-footage film. In the past, it introduced debuts of today’s internationally recognized directors, e.g. Werner Herzog, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Nagisa Oshima, George Lucsa, Martin Scorsese, Jim Jarmush or Sofia Coppola. However, space is also given to classic directors such as Louis Malle, Robert Bresson, Manoel de Oliveira or Stephen Frears. The last Slovak film in this section was presented 37 years ago.
