Slovak contemporary film heading to Serbia

22nd edition of the European Film Festival Palić will take place on June 18 – 25 2015 in Palić, Serbia.

A week before the opening, the European film classics will be screened within the Classics on the Square section at one of the most beautiful town squares in Serbia. Among names such as Miklós Jancsó, Roy Andersson or Pier Paolo Pasolini also Slovak filmmaker Peter Solan will appear with his masterpiece Before Tonight Is Over.

This year´s festival line-up is enriched with a number of Slovak films. The successful Koza by Ivan Ostrochovský is competing in the Official Selection.
Parallels and Encounters is hosting the co-production modern western Mirage (r. Szabolcs Hajdu). The Young Spirit of Europe section is dedicated to recently deceased Slovak young and talented filmmaker Aramisova. Within the section his last film What We Did Before We Drank Cocoa Together will be screened.

Five further films will be introduced in a section dedicated contemporary Slovak cinema entitled New Slovak Films: Miracle (d. Juraj Lehotský), Velvet Terrorists (d. Pavol Pekarčík, Ivan Ostrochovský, Peter Kerekes), Comeback (r. Miro Remo), Children (d. Jaro Vojtek) and Made in Ash (d. Iveta Grófová).

Miro Remo, Peter Kerekes and Ivan Ostrochovský will be introducing their films and Slovak director Mira Fornay is this year´s jury member.

Visitors of the festival in Palić can also enjoyed Slovak films in the photography exhibition Best of Best of Slovak Films. The selection of the photographs is focused on the best Slovak cinematography films from the years 1962-1972. The collection is based upon the publication Best Of Slovak Film (Peter Hames, SFÚ, 2013) and Slovak Film Institute´s Golden Fund of Slovak Cinematography dvd edition.

Slovak presentation at the festival is organised by European Film Festival Palić in the co-operation with Slovak Film Institute and Slovak Embassy in Beograd.

2003: 66 Seasons (d. Peter Kerekes; section Young Spirit of Europe).
In 2011 Eva Križková was a member of jury.
