Slovak cinema awarded at the 12th IFF Bratislava

The 12th International Film Festival Bratislava, held during November 5 - 11, 2010, awarded some of significant Slovak film professionals and personalities.

The IFF Bratislava Award for Artistic Excellence in World Cinematography was given out to the Czech film director Jan Švankmajer, who co-operates not only with Slovak actors and the Slovak director of photography Juraj Galvánek, but also his latest films are Slovak co-productions. His last film - with Slovak participation - Surviving Life (2010) was premiered at the IFF Venice. 

The FILM EUROPE AWARD
for successful presentation of Slovak film abroad was granted to actor Marko Igonda, known for his leading role in the film Legend of Flying Cyprian (dir. Mariana Čengel Solčanská, 2010). Marko Igonda represented Slovakia as a Shooting Star 2008, during IFF Berlinale.

The tile on the Movie Walk of Fame given by the IFF Bratislava and the City of Bratislava was given out to the famous Slovak actress Mária Krážovičová.

The Viewers' Award went to the Canadian film Modra (dir. Ingrid Veninger, 2010), which takes place in the Slovak town Modra. The director of the film is originally from Slovakia. The film was screened within the Made in Slovakia section, which presented the latest Slovak productions.

During the 12th IFF Bratislava the results of the screenplay competition Tibor Vichta's Award were announced. The winner in the Best feature film category was Roman Hríbik with Plánky, in the category of the Best internet series (up to 5 minutes) the award went to Tony Gaal's Hlavičky z lavičky and the winner in the Best comic series was Hifi by Jana Sýkorová.
