Slovak Cinema at Film Festival Cottbus

German Film Festival Cottbus, focused on Eastern and Central European cinema will screen seven Slovak films at its 27th edition (November 1-12, 2017).

Commercially successful film The Line (d. Peter Bebjak) and film Out (d. Gyӧrgy Kristóf) will compete in the section Feature Film Competition.

Short Feature Competition will introduce student film Atlantis, 2003 (d. Michal Blaško), presented at the international premiere at Cannes IFF 2017.

Tri-national competition addressing the young audience U18 Youth Film Competition chose film Nina (d. Juraj Lehotský). The jury consists of pupils from Czech Republic, Poland and Germany.

This edition section Specials is called Fraternal Kiss and it marks the occasion of the centenary of the October Revolution. The section will present film by Czechoslovak New Wave director Jan Němec The Wolf from Royal Vineyard Street.

Political thriller Kidnapping (d. Mariana Čengel Solčanská) screens in the section of National Hits.

The youngest audience will have a chance to see fairy tale An Angel of the Lord 2 (d. Jiří Strach) thanks to the section Children´s Film.
