BERLINALE
International Film Festival Berlin

She – Hero scored at the 73rd Berlinale

Slovak adventure film for children She – Hero, directed and produced by Mira Fornay, won The Grand Prix of the Generation Kplus International Jury.

She – Hero, Mira Fornay's fourth feature film, made world premieres in the Berlinale's Generation Kplus, section devoted to children audience. It was awarded The Grand Prix of the Generation Kplus International Jury: "From its very first shot, this film had the jury under its spell. All manner of issues, characters and complexities meet in the enchanted microcosm of the forest, which sets the stage for its wilful, young protagonist. This film celebrates ingenuity, creativity and openness. Through its tone, pace and humorous spirit, it beautifully walks the tightrope between reality and fantasy. This is the story of a young girl looking for a bird."

The last time a Slovak film won the award in the Generation section was in 2017, when the children's jury awarded Iveta Grófová's The Harbour the Crystal Bear.
