Roming at Toronto IFF 2007

Czech-Romanian-Slovak coproduction film ROMING by Jiří Vejdělek will be screened at 32. edition of Toronto IFF (Sept., 6 - 15, 2007) within the Discovery programme.

Roming is a comedy-like road movie about the journey of three Roma from the north of the Czech Republic to Slovakia. Jura is a modern young man with rational thinking, he studies at a university. He cannot believe the news that his father had arranged his marriage with the daughter of his best friend years ago and now his father wants him to go and meet his bride in Slovakia. At first, Jura refuses to agree with the absurd proposal, but gradually he gives in to his father’s emotional blackmailing. With Stano, a temperamental family friend, they set out on a journey across the country in an old ramshackle van. (source Slovak Films 2005 - 2007 /Eng, pdf)
