Four Slovak projects supported by the Creative Europe Media Programme

The second call for proposals of the Creative Europe MEDIA Programme, which published results on October 23 (Call No. 30/2013), has been the most successful for Slovak films applying in the MEDIA Programme so far: in the Development - Single Project call, four of five submitted projects were supported.

Fool Moon production company, represented by producer and director Katarína Kerekesová (Stones, Mimi and Lisa), received a support of 60 000 € for the 13 episode 3D animation series Websters,  reflecting the contemporary world from four-eyed point of view of the main character of the series - a spider.

The new documentary project of the the directors' duo Peter Kerekes and Ivan Ostrochovský (Velvet Terrorists), developed by the production company Peter Kerekes, was supported with the amount of 25 000 €. Their upcoming project Censors will observe everyday routines of censors, guides of morality and ideology, who select, control and adjust the reflection of reality.

Producer Wanda Hrycová and Wandal Production (Colette), received a support of 30 000 € for the tragicomic SchengenStory, a feature combining a drama with a detective story and the bizarre comic character of the Slovak-Ukrainian border area. The project is expected to be the fourth feature of director Peter Bebjak (Apricot Island, Evil, The Cleaner).

A support in the amount of 30 000 € was granted to the latest project of director Juraj Lehotský (Blind Loves, Miracle) entitled Erik, an intimate story of a boy, going through a difficult time of his parents' divorce. The film is produced by Ivan Ostrochovský and Punkchart films (Made in Ash).

All mentioned projects were also supported by the Slovak Audiovisual Fund

The call of Audience Development was also successful for Slovak audiovisual industry: the KineDok project, submitted by a consortium of companies from six countries, co-ordinated by the Czech Institute of Documentary Film (IDF) and including the Slovak distribution company Filmtopia, received a support of 130 254 €.
