Dušan Hanák awarded for Outstanding Contribution in Cinema

Slovak director Dušan Hanák will receive the prestigious Sofia Award at the 18th Sofia IFF in Bulgaria.  The award for Outstanding Contribution in Cinema is a joint initiative of Sofia Municipality and Sofia International Film Festival.

322 (1969), Dušan Hanák´s feature fiction debut, will open the Czechoslovak New Wave. 1969. The Forbidden Films section. This section was prepared in cooperation with Slovak Film Institute. 27 laureats from international cinema were honoured with this prestigious award.

The Czechoslovak New Wave. 1969. The Forbidden Films section will also present further classics of this era -  Birdies, Orphans and Fools (1969) by Juraj Jakubisko, Celebration in the Botanical Garden (1969) by Elo Havetta and the documentary by Martin Šulík 25 from the Sixties or the Czechoslovak New Wave I., II. (2010), personally presented by the director, as well.

The Documentary Competition will present Velvet Terrorists (2013) by Palo Pekarčík, Ivan Ostrochovský and Peter Kerekes. Ivan Ostrochovský will introduce the movie personally. The Grand Prizes section will represent  last year's winner from Rotterdam My Dog Killer (2013) by Mira Fornay. She will also introduce her new project called Cook, F..k, Kill (Women with No Tongues) at the co-production forum Sofia Meetings.
