Animation in Action coming to the Lumière cinema

 Animation in Action is a project of the V4 countries aimed to promote classical animation for children and it is an activity based upon the co-operation of film archives in Katowice, Bratislava, Prague and Budapest. It consists of touring screenings of Polish, Slovak, Czech and Hungarian animation film collections, which will be introduced in archives in all four countries.

The Slovak part of the touring screenings starts with on Sunday, February 22 (Hungarian films), then continues March 1 (Slovak films), March 15 (Czech films) and March 22 (Polish films), always at 3 pm in the Lumière cinema. Closed screenings for schools are part of the project, as well, with special introductions provided by the partner of the event - the Association of Slovak Film Clubs and lecturers from the Czech National Film Archive.

The second part of the project is a two-day workshop taking place in Poland, inviting artists from the other three countries to create an animation film about their country with Polish children. During the weekned of February 13 - 15, the Slovak lecturers were animation filmmakers Joanna Kożuch, Boris Šima and composer Svetlana Sarkisjanová.

Film archives, taking part in the project, are Filmoteka Slaska / Instytucja Filmowa Silesia Film (Poland), NFA - Národní filmový archiv (Czech Republic), MaNDA - Magyar Nemzeti Digitális Archívum és Filmintézet (Hungary) and SFÚ - Slovenský filmový ústav (Slovak Republic). The project was supported by the Visegrad Fund and is running in all of the partnering countries. The Slovak part is organized by the Slovak Film Institute, in co-operation with its partners Association of Slovak Film Clubs, Balassi Institute, Polish Insititute and Czech Center.
