25 Slovak films in Zlín retrospective, three in competition

Film Festival Zlín - The International Festival for Children and Youth has a long tradition. During May 30 - June 6, 2010 the jubilee 50. edition will be held in Zlín and Slovak cinema will have a significant participation in its program. Three of the Slovak films will be competing for festival awards.

This year's festival program consists of 5 competition sections and 13 informative sections. Three of the Slovak films are included into two competition sections - Foxes by Mira Fornay  in the  International Competition of Full-length European Debuts and Soul at Peace by Vlado Balko and Broken Promise by Jiří Chlumský in the Competition of Films from Visegrad Coutries.

Most of the Slovak films, however, will be screened within the Days of Czech and Slovak Cinema section. The audience of the festival will have the chance to see 25 films from the 50s to 1989. Most of the films will be presented by the filmmakers themselves - directors Eva Štefankovičová, Juraj Lihotsit, Peter Hledák, Miloslav Luthers, actors Ivan Palúch, Marián Slovák, Ivan Krivosudský, Štefan Kvietik, Zita Furková, Soňa Valentová and the legend of Slovak acting Ladislav Chudík, as well.

Slovakia will be also represented in the festival jurys. Director Dušan Hanák will be present in the International Competition of Full-length European Debuts Jury and the documentary author/the VŠMU student Miro Remo will be present of the Competition of Films from Visegrad Countries jury.

The Slovak participation at the 50. IF of Films for Children and Youth Zlín 2010 is organized by the Slovak Film Institute (SFÚ), which is also the organizer of the Czech-Slovak Opening Party.
