Slovak animation at Anifilm and CEE Animation Forum 2019

Every year, Anifilm International Festival of Animated Film presents current trends, methods, technologies and animation techniques in its programme. This edition (May 7 – 12, 2019) will also introduce several Slovak and co-production films to the festival audience within different programme sections, while two projects in development will be presented at the CEE Animation Forum.

The Kite (d. Martin Smatana), recent recipient of the Award for the best children’s animated film at the 26th Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film, will be part of two sections. Beside the International Competition of Student Animated Films, the film will be also screened within the Czech Horizon section, alongside another student film, Journey by Marek Jasaň.

Czech Horizon: TV/On-line Films and Series section will introduce TV special Mimi & Lisa – Christmas Lights Mystery by Ivana Šebestová and Katarína Kerekesová. For the youngest audience, the festival programme offers five episodes of The Websters (d. Katarína Kerekesová) and six episodes of KA-BOOM! (d. Veronika Kocourková) within non-competitive section Animo:).

Music video of the legendary Czech band J.A.R.: Jsem vymletej (d. Norbert Neuschl) will be presented within Czech Horizon: MV and Commissioned Works section. Nvmeri:Art of the Trial, music video made by a collective of students of the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava under the guidance of Michaela Čopíková will be competing in the Music Video Competition.

CEE Animation Forum with Slovak Participation

Anifilm traditionally hosts CEE Animation Forum (formerly VAF), film industry and market platform for film professionals focused on animation, with the aim to attract potential partners, producers, broadcasters, sales agents and film distributors, and to assist in finding ways of financing shorts, animated features and TV series/TV Specials.

Main Pitching competitions at CEE Animation Forum also include two Slovak and co-production projects in the official selection. Street Pack (d. Matej Holub), Slovak representant in Series / Tv Specials category, about the pursuit and tribulations of animal music band named Street Pack. Slovak minority co-production, My Sunny Maad (d. Michaela Pavlátová), will be presented in the Feature Film category.

New Talentsselection focusing on films by extraordinary talents with promising future careers - will introduce Poetika Anima (d. Kriss Sagan) and I Am Not Playing Anymore (d. Matej Babic).

Slovak participation at CEE Animation Forum is coordinated by the Slovak Association of Animation Producers (APAF).
