The actors from Divadlo z Pasáže [Theatre from the Passage] are living their dream lives

and will not let anybody spoil their happiness. They were enabled to step out of their

anonymous existence in institutions for individuals with mental disabilities and given

the chance to show that their abilities are much greater than generally believed. Protected

Territory is a documentary on the Divadlo z Pasáže theatre group’s long-awaited

three-week trip to the United States. Such an expedition of course implies many

obstacles, and the members overcome them through improvisation, humour, and patience.

The play they are preparing to perform brings another dimension to the movie;

it is a story in which all characters have their own idea of their protected and unprotected

territories and of the borders that separate them.
