In Silence depicts the emotional journey of Jewish musicians and performers whose successful entry into the world of music was interrupted by World War II and dramatic experiences of the Holocaust. The film is based on historical facts and true stories of obliteration of Jewish musicians during the era of national socialism in Slovakia, Czech Republic and Germany.

ZDENĚK JIRÁSKÝ (1969)

Graduated in screenwriting and script editing from FAMU in 2004. For many years he was mainly involved in documentaries, especially for the Czech Television. He made several travel documentaries, and as a scriptwriter he was involved a.o. in the popular TV series Letište (Airport). His feature film debut Flower Buds (2011), shown in its international premiere in the East of the West competition at KVIFF 2012 was selected for a great number of international film festivals and collected numerous awards (Chicago IFF – Silver Hugo, Busan IFF - Flash Forward Award), and won four Czech Lion awards, including Best Film and Best Director. His second feature film In Silence (2014) is world-premiered at Karlovy Vary IFF.
