Slovak films at Finále Plzeň 2012

The 25th edition of the Festival of Czech Films Finále Plzeň starts this Sunday and will be running till April 28, 2012. In its official programme it offers some of the new and archive Slovak films, it will present a new section for film professionals Industry Days and will traditionally bring the presentation of upcoming Czech fiction and animation projects. 

The section dedicated to the Slovak director Martin Šulík, who will be celebrating his 50th birthday this year, brings a collection of his most significant films: Tenderness (1991), Everything I Love (1993), The Garden (1995), Orbis Pictus (1997) and his Czech documentary Key to Determining Dwarfs (2002), as well.

The Competition section fiction films will present the best from the previous year - the co-production films Gypsy by Martin Šulík, The House by Zuzana Liová and Alois Nebel by Tomáš Luňák among the 10 competing titles. Lidice by Petr Nikolaev and The Blue Tiger by Petr Oukropec & Bohdan Sláma will be screened Out of Competition. Nicky's Family by Matej Mináč will be presented withing the documentary section's Out of Competition.

In the section dedicated to brothers Trojans the debut by Peter Krištúfek Visible World, starring Ivan Trojan, will be presented.

The festival will present a new section for film professionals this year, as well. The Industry Days (26. - 28. 4. 2012) will offer possibilities to meet the Czech production of the last year, to develop contacts with Czech filmmakers and to take part at various events focused on the Czech and European industry. In 2012, the Industry Days wil focus on Poland. The section entitled ZOOM: Poland, organized in co-operation with the Polish Film Institute and the Czech Film Center and besides the screening of new Polish and retrospectives it will bring expert panels on financing the Polish and Czech cinematographies, distribution in both countries and regional funding.

Traditionally, the presentation of upcoming Czech fiction and animation films will take palce on 27. 4. 2012 between 10:00 - 14:00, organized by the Czech Film Centre. Projects in development, production and postproduction will be introduced by the producers and directors. The event will be interpreted to English.
