Slovak films at festivals in Greece and Germany

At the 55th edition of  MFF Thessaloniki (Oct 31 -  Nov 9, 2014), the Slovak cinema is represented by the title In Silence (2014) directed by Zdeněk Jiráský in the Main Selection of the festival´s Open Horizons. 
 
Thessaloniki´s Industry programme within Agora Film Market (Nov 1–  8, 2014) includes the co-production forum Crossroads (Nov 4 – 8, 2014). Slovak director Aramisova (know for his film Cagey Tigers / Cannes Cinéfondation 2011) joins the forum with his project of a Czech-Slovak co-production Kids from the East.

The on-line library of Agora offers a selection of current Slovak films, including: In Silence (2014) by Zdeněk Jiráský, Indian Summer (2013) by Gejza Dezorz, The Candidate (2013) by Jonáš Karásek, Step into the Dark (2014) by Miloslav Luther and Slovakia 2.0 (2014) an omnibus film by 10 directors.

		IN SILENCE (V tichu) SK /CZ- 2014 - 84 min. directed by: Zdeněk Jiráský synopsis: The film reveals carefree lives of the five Jewish artist in a stylized manner, with precise film aesthetics and a strong musical component, in contrast with the humiliating and nightmarish part of their lives in concetration camps.

Cottbus FF (4. – 9. 11. 2014) is significant for a presentation of Slovak cinema.
In the festival´s 24th edition, two Slovak films are presented: Spektrum section will present omnibus film Slovensko 2.0 (2014) directed by 10 renowned Slovak directors and National Hits section introduces Jonáš Karásek´s The Candidate (2013).

		THE CANDIDATE (Kandidát) SK/CZ - 2013 - 106 min. directed by: Jonáš Karásek synopsis: Adam Lambert, the wealthy and adroit advertising agency director receives an assignment from influential circles sixty days prior to the upcoming Presidential elections, according to which he should promote a hitherto completely unknown candidate.
Section: Spectrum TUE < Nov 4, 2014 < Glad-House Saal < 8:00 pm FRI < Nov 7, 2014 < Obenkino < 3:00 pm
		SLOVAKIA 2.0  (Slovensko 2.0) SK - 2014 - 112 min. directed by: Ondrej Rudavský, Martin Šulík, Viera Čákányová, Zuzana Liová, Mišo Suchý, Juraj Herz, Miro Jelok, Peter Krištúfek, Iveta Grófová, Peter Kerekes synopsis: Ten well-known Slovak directors shed light on twenty years of Slovak independence through the medium of short film.
