Cooking History excels at Viennale
The successful documentary film by Peter Kerekes - Cooking History, awarded with the Golden Hugo at IFF Chicago in October 2009, achieved further success receiving the Main Prize for Documentary atViennale 2009 – Vienna IFF (Oct. 22 – Nov 4, 2009) .
On the initiative of the Viennale, the “Vienna Film Prize” will be a kind of double-prize this year, awarded separately in both the “Feature Film” and “Documentary” categories. The Jury therefore decided to award "the incredibly unconventional approach with which here the fundamental process of eating is brought to the boil using staged witness statements and original footage" of Kerekes' film. "The result is a perverted culinary feast of war, spiced with a pinch of sarcasm," the Jury states.
Cooking History is the second feature document of the director.
