  Ji.hlava 2012 with a strong Slovak representation
International Documentary Film Festival Jihlava 2012 (23rd-28th 10th 2012) starts this year its 16th year and as usual, it will not be without Slovak representation.

2nd year of an international event Visegrad Film Forum (VFF) will take place at the Film and Television Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts on 17th – 20th of October 2012 in Bratislava, Slovakia.

The Slovak Film and Television Academy decided to nominate the film MADE IN ASH (orig. Až do mesta Aš) by Iveta Grófová as the Slovak entry for the Best Foreign Language Film of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) Awards, also known as the Oscars.
  Two Slovak documentaries awarded at Cinematik IFF Piešťany
The closing ceremony ended the 7th edition of the Cinematik IFF in Piešťany: two Slovak documentary films were awarded. 7. ročník MFF Cinematik Piešťany. The closing film was the Czechoslovak New Wave classic The Sun in a Net, which is celebration its 50th anniversary this year.

The 7th Cinematik IFF Piešťany (7. - 13. 9. 2012) will open with the debut of Iveta Grófová Made in Ash, which opened the East of the West section of Karlovy Vary IFF in July 2012. The establishing film of the Czechoslovak New Wave will then close the festival - on the occasion of its 50th anniversary the restored classic The Sun in a Net will be screened from a restored DCP.
  Slovak project Rubicon awarded at the international scriptwriting workshop MIDPOINT 2012
The international scriptwriting workshop aimed at supporting talents and developing the European scriptwriting and script editing MIDPOINT, organized for the third time by the Prague Film School FAMU, announced its winners: besides the Polish short film project The Seventh, the Slovak project Rubicon was awarded as the best feature project.
  STEP-IN Day during Locarno IFF
Locarno IFF´s Industry Days will present a professional program of industry screenings (including a Digital Library), a work in progress session, forums and roundtables focused on sales and distribution issues.
