  Cinema at the Border introducing Dušan Hanák and new Slovak films
The 16th edition of the Cinema at the Border film showcase, takes place in Český Těšín and Cieszyn at the Czech-Polish border, April 29 - May 4, 2014. This year will honour the Slovak film director Dušan Hanák.
  Slovak films competing at Finále Plzeň for the first time
In its 27th edition, Finale Plzeň (April 27 – May 3, 2014, Pilsen, Czech Republic) opens its gates also to Slovak films in all three competition sections , as well as in the new competition of Czech and Slovak TV formats.
  Slovak films travel in April
Slovak films will conclude April with a significant festival presence - they will be available at the 21st Hot Docs in Toronto, 11th Crossing Europe in Linz and 6th PriFilmFest in Prishtina.

  The Sun in a Net 2014 - Nominations
During February, members of the Slovak Film and Television Academy (SFTA) voted in a first round and selected nominees for the Slovak National Film Awards The Sun in a Net 2014 in particular categories. Most nominated were films My Dog Killer (6 nominations), The Candidate (5 nominations), Colette, Fine, Thanks, Clownwise and Miracle (4 nominations), Made in Ash and Normalization (3 nominations) and Honeymoon, New Life of Family Album and In the Shadow (2 nominations).

Slovak director Dušan Hanák will receive the prestigious Sofia Award at the 18th Sofia IFF in Bulgaria. The award for outstanding contribution to world cinema is a joint initiative of Sofia Municipality and Sofia International Film Festival.
