  Fest Anča will celebrate 60 years of the Slovak Film Institute
The 16th edition of the International Animation Festival Fest Anča (29 June - 2 July 2023) promises to be an exceptional event celebrating the art of animation. With its usual dedication to showcasing the finest Slovak animated films, the festival will not only feature competition and non-competition sections but will also pay tribute to two remarkable milestones in the industry.
  New and classic Slovak films at 29th Art Film Fest in Košice
29th edition of International Film Festival Art Film Fest Košice (June 16 – 23, 2023) will present a lot of new Slovak films, will celebrate 60th anniversary of the Slovak Film Institute, and will commemorate life and work of two legends – Juraj Jakubisko and Milan Lasica.
  Outstanding Slovak representation in Annecy
Four Slovak films will compete at one of the most important animation film festivals in Europe. Two feature-length films and two shorts are represented in the official competition programme of the 47th Annecy International Animation Film Festival (11-17 June 2023).
  Slovak films compete at Zlín Film Festival 2023
The 63rd edition of the International Film Festival for Children and Youth Zlín Film Festival (1 – 7 June 2023) will present new Slovak films, feature films, short and student films will be competing in various programme sections.
  Slovak Cinema at Cannes IFF 2023
Festival de Cannes and Marché du film give you an opportunity to meet talented Slovak filmmakers and producers while also catching up with Slovak cinema at market screenings. One Slovak film is part of the festival's programme: Electra, a short animated film directed by Daria Kashcheeva and co-produced by Juraj Krasnohorský of Slovak company Artichoke, was selected for La Cinef.   A Happy Man to premiere at Hot Docs
A Happy Man, a feature doc debut by Soňa G. Lutherová, will celebrate its world premiere at the biggest North American documentary festival Hot Docs in Toronto (April 27 – May 7, 2023).
  The winners of The Sun in a Net 2023
The Slovak Film and Television Academy (SFTA) granted the Slovak national film awards The Sun in a Net 2023 on Saturday, April 15. The Ballad of Piargy (d. Ivo Trajkov) took home twelve awards, while Victim (r. Michal Blaško) won the award for Best Fiction Film. Dezo Hoffmann – Photographer of The Beatles (d. Patrik Lančarič) was awarded Best Documentary Film and the Best Animation award went to Journey to Yourland (d. Peter Budinský). Director of photography Laco Kraus and director Stanislav Párnický were awarded for the outstanding contribution to Slovak cinema.
  Czech and Slovak Film Festival in Australia celebrates 10 years
The Czech and Slovak Film Festival in Australia (CaSFFA) will screen Peter Solan's classic The Barnabáš Kos Case (1964) in March. The festival, which is known for showcasing Slovak and Czech cinema in the first spring month, will be taking place from 24 March to 2 April 2023 in Sydney. In addition to Solan's film, thirteen contemporary Slovak long and short films will also be featured at the festival.
  15 Slovak films at IFF Febiofest Bratislava
30th edition of International Film Festival Febiofest Bratislava (March 15 – 19, 2023) starts in two days with as many as 15 Slovak film in the programme. Many of them will be show in premiere.
  10 Slovak works-in-progress to be presented in Bratislava and online
10 Slovak film projects will be presented at Works in Progress session during Bratislava Industry Days at IFF Febiofest Bratislava.
