  Slovak National Nomination for the Oscars is Eva Nová
The Slovak nomination for the Best Foreign Language Film Award of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), also known as the Oscar, is Eva Nová by Marko Škop.
  Visegrad Film Festival in Cork runs the second edition
The second edition of the Visegrad Film Festival will kick off in a few days (Sept 19 – 28,2016). The festival will present a wide range of quality films from the region of the V4 countries. After last year´s premiere edition focusing on Slovak films, this year´s programme will put a spotlight on Polish cinematography. But still Slovak films cannot absent!
  Slovak Film Days in Serbia
Seven Slovak films are heading to Belgrade and Vojvodina´s villages with the majority of Slovak inhabitants. The representative showcase Slovak Film Days will run from Sept 27 to Oct 1, 2016.
  Slovak films are heading to Budapest
From Sept 15 -17, 2016 the representative showcase Slovak Film Days will kick off in Budapest, drawing attention on successful contemporary Slovak cinema. During this three day event, five selected successful films produced within the last three years will be presented at Toldi cinema, followed by a parallel event running form September to December 2016. As an initiative of the Slovak Presidency in the Council of the European Union, eight Slovak films from the SK PRES Bluray collection will be screened in the cultural centres Aurora and Kék Ló in Budapest.
  The Golden Era of Slovak Cinematography heading to Berlin
A representative showcase will offer the best of Slovak films from Czechoslovak New Wave. A collection of films curated by Jörg Fries and Olaf Möller will be screened in Zeughauskino – Deutsches historisches Museum in Berlin on Sept 20-30, 2016.
  The Czech and Slovak Film Festival of Australia 2016
The Czech and Slovak Film Festival of Australia is held for the fourth time in four Australian cities. The festival starts on Sept 14 in Melbourne and then continues to Perth, Sydney and for the first time also to Canberra.
  Cinematik welcomes Slovak films
The 11th International Film Festival Cinematik (Sept 13 – 18, 2016) will feature several Slovak films in competitive sections of European fiction films and Slovak documentaries and two Slovak co-productions will be premiered in the non-competitive sidebar dedicated to domestic production.
  Producers Lab Toronto 2016: Mira Fornay (MIRAFOX)
Producers Lab Toronto (Sept 6 – 9, 2016), a co-production platform organized by European Film Promotion (EFP), will be held within the Toronto IFF for the seventh time. Slovak director, scriptwriter and producer Mira Fornay (MIRAFOX) is a part of this year´s thrilling selection of projects.
  Slovakia - Partner Country of CineLink Industry Days 2016
On Monday, August 15, the established coproduction platform CineLink Industry Days kicks off within the 22nd Sarajevo Film Festival. This year, Slovakia and Czech Republic are proud to be Partner countries of this unique event! A strong delegation of 26 Czech and Slovak film professionals is heading to Sarajevo for four busy days to build ties with their Southeast European counterparts.
  Summer School Academy Uherské Hradište honours Emília Vášaryová
Summer School Academy Uherské Hradište kicks off on July 22 and will last until July 26. This year´s programme will not only show a large number of Slovak films, but also recognize Emília Vášáryová, an outstanding an icon of Slovak film. The traditional Slovak day will be held on Tuesday July 26, 2016.
