  Slovak Producer on the Move 2017: Katarína Krnáčová
Slovakia will be represented in the Producers on the Move at Cannes IFF by promising producer Katarína Krnáčová (Silverart).

Producers on the Move is an initative organized by European Film Promotion (Slovak Film Institute being a member) and is aimed at connecting young, enterprising European producers with potential co-production partners.
  A strong presence of Slovak Animation in Třeboň
The International Festival of Animated Films Anifilm in Třeboň (May 2 – 7, 2017) features several Slovak films within its official programme, as well as at Visegrad Animation Forum - a platform for film professionals (May 2 – 4, 2017).
  Filthy meets The Teacher in Main Competition of goEast 2017
For couple of days from today, German city Wiesbaned opens its gates to lovers of films from Central and Eastern Europe. Today starts Festival of Central and Eastern European Film goEast (26. 4. – 2. 5. 2017) with several Slovak (co)productions in its programme. For starters, in Main Competition Filthy, feature debut by Tereza Nvotová will vie for the awards with The Teacher by Jan Hřebejk.
  Visegrad Film Forum 2017
The 6th edition of Visegrad Film Forum (VFF) kicks off on April 25 and ends on April 29. This year the networking and educational platform discusses TV production. During the 5-day event VFF brings together renowned film professionals, students and film enthusiasts to get them space for open dialogue, sharing and exchange of innovative experiences.
  Slovak Films at the 30th Finále Plzeň
The jubilee 30th edition of film festival Finále Plzeň (April 20 – 26, 2017) will once again introduce a significant number of Slovak film titles. Slovak cinema will be showcased not only in the competitive and non-competitive sidebars, but also within the Industry section Czech Film Springboard.
  Slovak film OUT selected to Un Certain Regard!
A debut feature OUT by György Kristóf has been selected for the Un Certain Regard at the jubilee 70th edition of Cannes IFF (May 17 – 28, 2017). The road movie of a tall, family man venturing through Eastern Europe in desperate attempt to get a job and fulfil his dream was made in Slovak-Hungarian-Czech co-production.
  Slovak film competing at Cinéfondation
Atlantis, 2003 student film by Michal Blaško will represent Slovak cinema at the jubilee 70th edition of Cannes IFF (May 17 – 28, 2017). This short film tells the story of a young couple - Martin and Denisija - from Ukraine, who are trying to get illegally to Germany, and will be introduced within Cinéfondation, one of the most prestigious competitions for short films.
  Slovak Film Week 2017
A showcase of domestic cinema Slovak Film Week (april 3 – 9, 2017) keeps on and is held for the third time. Visitors of the Lumiere Cinema will have an opportunity to catch up with the Slovak films released in cinemas in 2016. The part of the event is also The Sun in a Net 2017 Gala Ceremony.
  Slovak Shorts in Dresden 2017
The 29th edition of International Short Film Festival FilmFest Dresden (April 4 – 9, 2017) features several Slovak films within the official programme.
  The Sun in a Net 2017 - Nominations
Members of the Slovak Film and Television Academy (SFTA) voted in the first round and selected nominees for the Slovak National Film Award The Sun in a Net 2017 in particular categories. The Award is given by Slovak Film and Television Academy (SFTA) since 2004, until last year held as biennial. The Academy was considering 20 submitted films, from which only 10 get nominee. Most nominations went to The Teacher (d. Jan Hřebejk, 13 nominations) and A Prominent Patient (d. Julius Ševčík, 12 nominations); followed by I, Olga Hepnarová (d. Tomáš Weinreb, Petr Kazda, 5 nominations), Stanko (d. Rastislav Boroš, 4 nominations) and The Red Captain (d. Michal Kollár, 3 nominations).
